Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi all,

I ordered the new AX73 and I had exsisting  AC80, both supporting Easy Mesh over ethernet backhaul.

I connected both and created Easy mesh over backhaul, having stable connection around 450 MBs from main and satellite router.

Unfortunately the issues start to appear when I needed to change the headings of the ethernet cable (from main to satellite router). Since then, satellite router (C80) is not performing well, giving just about 180 mbps.

- both routers were factory reseted and configured

- both changed cables (the headings) are working fine with expected speed  (etherent, not wireless connection) when connected to main router, or satellite via cable (from main router)

- both routers can perform well for wifi when separeted networks are created (so both are main, different networks, the previous satelite is connected to main over the cable)

- both have latest firmwares

- when at the admin portal for main router, the satelite connection over ethernet backhaul is visible, showing wired connection 10000 MBs.

- even satelllite connection is showing connected clients, however there is issue with the speed as mentioned

- however tether app shows  no 2.4 GHz and 5Ghz traffic, which is strange

to sum it up, it seems that devices are being changed to satellite network when I moved over house (but not all the time), but satellite router only when Easy Mesh ethernet backhaul cannot provide full speed, working independetly works great. So it might seems to me that even the SmartNework is not enabled,  its transmitting quality of signal of seems to be 2.4G, even when connected to 5Ghz network, or device not swithing to nearest router.

speeds are tested on https://www.speedtest.net on iPhone and Macbook Air... before the cable heading changed worked great.

any recommendation?

  @Stanley2222

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

The issue sound a little strange.

1. Did you check again using different ethernet cables? Please share the spec of cables you used.

2. As you mentioned speed 450mbps or 180mbps, were they tested on 2.4Ghz wifi band or 5Ghz wifi band? If you enabled smart connect and connect devices to main router/satellite route wirelessly, how can you confirm which wifi band the device is connected to? The speeds from 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi band are usually diferent.
