Hi, we are trying to connect a DECO X50-5G to give wifi network to a business area. It seems to be ok up to 9-10 devices, but when we connect some more phones/laptops we find connection problems.

How many devices can we connect at the same time to a DECO X50-5G wifi network?

Is there any set up change to increase or delete that number of devices?

Thank you in advance

  @AlvaroSOD

Hi,

Deco products are SOHO products. Usually we do not recommend you to use it for business area, it may not satisfy your demands.

In laboratory conditions, the Deco network is designed to support up to 100 connected devices. However, the actual number of devices that can be reliably connected may be impacted by the real-world usage environment.

You may refer to this link and check if the business products are more suitable for your case: TP-Link Business.

  @Sunshine Thank you for your response. We bought 5 Deco X50-5G to add some autonomous 5G based acces points to our environement.

It´s very obvious that when there are exactly 10 devices connected to the Deco, the 11th says that "cannot be connected to the internet".

It seems to be something limited in the setup and does not match with the 100 devices you have tested in laboratory. Is there something i can do with the set up to increase that limit?

Is there any other TP link professional product with 5G without this limit?

Thank you.

  @AlvaroSOD

Hi, sorry for the delay.

Did you use each Deco X50-5G to create a separate Mesh network?

Under certain circumstances, Deco X50-5G might not be able to reach 100m/s but I think 10~20 would not be a problem.

If we try to separate the 2.4GHz from 5GHz, for example:

1. Set the main network on 5GHz only.

2. Enable guest network for 2.4 GHz.

Would it help to increase the client limit?

By the way, Since there are 5*Deco X50-5G, were you having a similar issue on all the 5 units?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

 Hi @David-TP . Answers below in blue

Did you use each Deco X50-5G to create a separate Mesh network?

We didn´t use Mesh function. Each Deco is used to create a unique network.

Under certain circumstances, Deco X50-5G might not be able to reach 100m/s but I think 10~20 would not be a problem.

Tested limit in our environment is 10-11 devices conected. From this number, each new device that tries to connect show an alert in wi-fi configuration: Connection to that wifi network is not possible.

If we try to separate the 2.4GHz from 5GHz, for example:

1. Set the main network on 5GHz only.

2. Enable guest network for 2.4 GHz.

We will try it.

In this way, we did another test that consisted in using a Deco ( with a 5G sim ) and connecting it through ethernet cable to a Omada Acces Point ( in wich we use to connect up to 30-40 clients without problems ) and in this case, the Omada also have problems when reaching to 10-11 clients. It seems that the Deco cannot manage more than 10-11 IPs.

By the way, Since there are 5*Deco X50-5G, were you having a similar issue on all the 5 units?

Yes, all of them have similar issue.
