Mixed Mesh: Effect of Using Older Models
Hi there! I intend to buy 2 to 3 BE65 to upgrade my mesh system which covers a large concrete house and is based on the legacy M9 Plus. I intend to keep some of the M9s to cover as much area as possible. Will a mixed mesh like this one affect the functionality of the BE65 main router and nodes in anyway?
Thank you...

Hi, They should work well together. The fast WiFi 7 speed from Deco BE65 will remain excellent.
However there are some difference when Deco BE65 is the main Deco, for example:
1. The Whole Mesh system will start using HomeShield, instead of HomeCare.
2. Some software features supported on BE65 haven't been added to Deco M9 Plus yet, such as IOT network.
Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP Thank you David for the informative feedback.
I presume that in the above scenario the M9 wifi backhaul will no longer use the dedicated 5GHz band (the 5GHz-2).
- Am I right about this?
- If yes, will the M9 use the channels of the 5GHz-2 band or will it remain unaccessable?
- Finally, will the M9 wifi backhaul situation differ if I upgrade using the X50-POE instead of the BE65?
Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for the update.
It depends.
For example: Deco BE65---<WiFi Backhaul#1>---Deco M9 Plus---<WiFi Backhaul#2>---Deco M9 Plus
WiFi Backhaul#1 is 2.4GHz+5GHz but WiFi Backhaul#2 is still 2.4GHz+5GHz-1+5GHz-2
The 5Ghz Wi-Fi signal for mobile devices broadcasting by Deco M9 Plus will still use the channels of the 5GHz-1.
Deco X50-POE works quite the same as Deco BE65 since X50-POE is still dual-band(2.4GHz+5GHz).
Deco X90 would be a great choice for Tri-Band WiFi Backhaul.
Best regards.

@David-TP Thanks for the clarification, David. I guess I can get more mileage from the M9s.
