Hi everyone,

I am confused these modems. If I already have an internet connection at home through a cable/DSL modem, why do I need to buy a separate Wi-Fi router? Also, are wireless routers available for rent from ISPs or other providers? Any clarification on this would be really helpfu for me.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Usually, if you have wireless devices like phones or laptops, they need to connect to a modem router or a wireless router to get internet access.

if your current cable/DSL modem has wireless function and can broadcast wifi signal, another Wi-Fi router may not be necessary.

If you not sure or consider renting, it is suggested to contact your ISP to confirm whether they have such a service option.
