Model: Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I've placed the router on the inside of an old wooden house and tried positioning the router by the window (which I then learned was a bad idea, since it reflects the radio signals) and then just by the inside of the wall of the house. The wifi signals can't even make the 30 meters (about 100 feet) in free air without obstacles (apart from the wall) to the TAPO C320WS camera that is mounted there. The picture is from the router's position, and the red building in the distance is where the TAPO camera is mounted. The router's wifi signal strength is set to max and 4G signal is just great.

The 12 year old router that the MR600 replaced made that distance without any problems. Could this be a hardware issue? Or isn't wifi coverage better than this?

  @JoakimS

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

100 feet is not a short distance for this router and the house wall can be great wireless interference. So the performance of 2.4GHz or 5GHz band can not be guaranteed.

It is more recommended to ask for proper business product to meet your need.

I understand! Could using an external antenna, outside, be a solution? And if so, which antenna should I be looking at? Or what about a TP-Link EAP110 - could using such an outdoor access point work?
