Model: Deco M5   TL-SG116E
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.7.6 build 20240305 Ref 28320

I am trying to sort out the speed on my home network.

I have a toob fibre connetion coming into the house at 900Mb up and down.

This goes through the fiber converter and then Cat6e from there to my M5 Deco which is configured as a Router.

If I plug my laptop directly into the incoming port of my Deco I can see this 917 down 917 up.

If I plug the laptop into the outgoing port on my M5 I get a maximum of 550 down and 40 up, same as if i plug into the router down stream.

According to everything I read the Deco should be able to handle way higher speeds than this so I'm at a loss where to try next.

Any help will be much appreciated.

  @Whit29

Hi

Do you mean that when you directly connect the laptop to the fiber modem, the speed is 917mbps, but when you connect the Deco to the laptop via wire, the speed is only 550mbps?
Please make sure to connect the main Deco and laptop via wired connection before going to speedtest.net to test the speed.
In addition, it is recommended that you test the wired link speed when the laptop is connected to main Deco:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2899/

If the Link speed is 1G but the actual speed is lower, please go to Deco APP > More > QOS to set it back to standard and remove all priority devices.

  @Joseph-TP Thanks, I finally got around to trying this with nobody working from home.

Turns out the QOS actually had some very low settings, obviously auto set when I had a slower network.

Now everything is looking a lot better.  Nice one.
