Model: RE450
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

I am using the TPlink RE450 as an access point connected to my router via Ethernet.

The device has three antennas with sockets marked 13, 22 and 31 on the board.
Which socket should I use to attach an external 2,4 GHz antenna?

Are they different?

  @Bobone

Hi, welcome to the community.

I think all three antennas are the same and they are bosting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. However, they are not detachable.

Do you plan to dismantle the extender and weld your own 2.4GHz antenna?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi,

if you open the cover, you can easily see how the antennas are attached with u.fl contacts.

My intention is to replace one of the original antennas with a larger antenna placed at 2 meters distance from the device (through a wall).

Although my comparison tests are not rigourous, it may be that socket 22 (middle) performs better than socket 31 (right). My coverage problem gets solved with this setup.

Does that make sense for the RE450?

Does MIMO, adaptative fields, etc.. exist for this model?

Will they be a problem or will the 2m distance just make the optimization sw give up and provide me with a straight 2.4 GHz signal as I wish?

Thanks,
