BE230 and Honor Magic 6 Pro - dropping from wifi7 to wifi6 when connect
My router is TP-LINK BE230 which supports dual band (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) wifi7.
My phone Honor Magic 6 Pro supports dual band (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) wifi7 too.
However when I connect my phone to BE230, it change/drop to wifi6 after connected. Is there any problem with to hardware, software or setting?
I tired all available BE230 firmwares from 1.02 and 1.03

Hi finally got an clear answer from Honor Hong Kong, client side is not supporting broadcom chip yet.
The WIFI7 function of the magic6Pro mobile phone in the Magic OS 8.0 system version only supports routers with Qualcomm/MTK chips, and does not currently support routers with Broadcom chips.
TP-LINK BE230 uses Broadcom chip, which is not supported by mobile phones.
It is planned to be supported in Magic OS version 9.0 and system versions after November. The details will be subject to the update support status of subsequent versions. Thank you.
that may explain why the WIFI7 and MLO function of Honor phone is not working good as well.

Hi,
The display of the corner mark is related to the manufacturer's settings and may not be completely accurate.
You can check whether the link speed between the phone and the router. How much link speed can you get?

Hi,
Your last screenshot shows Encryptions Type as "WPA2-Personal", which seems weird, as I believe WPA3 is a requirement for Wi-Fi 7 when following the standard strictly.
What setting do you have selected for Wireless "Security" on your BE230? It should be set to WPA3-Personal+WPA2-PSK or WPA3-Personal.

Hi,
Thanks for your information.
Did you test WPA3 on both 2.4G and 5G and still have the same issue?
Please also provide a picture of the WIFI settings, which mode did you choose?

tested with OFDMA+MU-MIMO on, smart connect off:
1. WPA3
2. WPA2/WPA3
3. WPA2
4. TWT on
5. TWT off
all 2.4G and 5G and MLO still have the same issue.
i have just reported to Honor as well. let see if they know any problem at client side.
btw MLO always use 2.4Ghz instead of 5Ghz and the test speed oif MLO is much slower than 5Ghz. not sure if it is client side problem as well.
