Extender stopped working for some reason. The light is all blue on the booster. Reset didn't help either. 
 

Is this link - http://tplinkrepeater.net still is the same to login to access the details?

Trying to Configure the Range Extender?

It looks like you may have run into an issue

If you're connecting to the Router directly, you will be unable to access the Range Extender's management page by using http://tplinkrepeater.net.

Solution One:

Manage with TP-Link Tether

  • Step One : Scan the QR Code and download TP-Link Tether APP from Google Play and Apple Store.
  • Step Two : Enable the TP-Link Tether and find the range extender in the devices list.
  • Step Three : Click the range extender,now you can easily manage it.

Solution Two:

Option One:

If your extended Wi-Fi network name is different from the main router (e.g. MyHome on the router, MyHome_EXT on the range extender), please connect to the extended Wi-Fi (e.g. MyHome_EXT) and try http://tplinkrepeater.net again.

Option Two:

In case both Wi-Fi network names are the same (e.g. MyHome on the router and MyHome on the range extender too), you may access the management page by using the Ethernet connection or range extender’s LAN IP.

  1. By Ethernet connection if applicable: turn off the Wireless Connection on your computer, connect your computer to the range extender with an Ethernet cable and try http://tplinkrepeater.net;
  2. By LAN IP: go to the DHCP Client List on your router, check the range extender’s current IP and type it in the address bar.

After installing the app, as there is no internet connection when connection to the wifi, I get "no devices found" in the App.

 

Not sure what is changed. Is there anything in the router that is required to be configured again? Any help would be great, thanks

If yes, It is suggested to update TL-WA850RE_V7 to the latest version first.

  @David-TP thanks for your reply and suggestion.

The issue that you suggested is not the same. My router does connect to the internet OK. There is no internet when the extender wifi is used. Also as the device is not detectable through the app. I already added the details when trying to access via the web browser. Not sure where to go from here? any suggestions?

Hi, Thanks for the update.

Did you set up the TL-WA850RE via the WPS button for the first time?

After the setup, can you still detect the wireless SSID of WA850RE, like "xxxx_EXT" or is there only the SSID of the Host router?

I believe the reason the Tether app could not detect the 850RE was also because the current connected Wi-Fi Network is not from 850RE.

 

Here is my advice:

Please reset the 850RE and set it up again with the Tether APP directly.

How to configure Range Extender via Tether APP

(During the setup, please try to give the SSID of 850RE a different name)

PS: Before setup, it is also suggested to check the current firmware of 850RE and if it is not the latest version, please also try to upload the latest firmware bin file to the web interface.

 

By the way, can I have the model number of your host router?

  @devlink thanks for the suggestions.

I am not sure how I set it up initially. I think it may be via WPS but not too sure.

I have done the hard reset now following these instructions https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/140/ and the name has changed back to "TP_Link_Extender". This is the same name as displayed on the device. This confirms the reset was done successfully.

 

I can see the extender wifi showing up in the Tether app. Please see the attached screenshot. After connecting to TP_Link_Extender wifi, when I try to connect to it, I get "Connection failed". 

 

Below are the router details - 

Name - Hitron

Model name - CHITA

 

Any further suggestions would be really helpful to resolve this issue.
