Model: RE500X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20210611 Rel. 180628

Hello,

I just purchased a TP-Link Mesh RE500X and I am trying to set up a mesh network with Fastweb Nexxt router.  I activated the easyMesh option inside the router, then I reset the RE500X and finally connected them via WPS. It connects perfectly, but it always creates a network with a name like ****_EXT.

I would like the same SSID. Is this possible?

I also tried manual configuration via web or via app, but always the same result.

The signal then is actually repeated, but the network is different.

Is there any chance to have the same network name? I thought it did just that

Thank you all for the help

Daniele

Hi,

You can log into the RE500X and change its wireless network names (SSIDs) to anything you'd like. (i.e. remove the _EXT)

But note that the RE500X V1 does not support EasyMesh and hence it cannot form an EasyMesh network with your EasyMesh router.

When you saw that the RE500X supports EasyMesh, then you were probably looking at the data for the RE500X V2.

V1:  https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/range-extender/re500x/v1/#overview

V2:  https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/range-extender/re500x/v2/#overview

@woozle thank you very much. I didn't know there is a v2 version. I bought this item on Amazon and I expected it provides easyMesh, but I received v1 version. I will send back and buy the newer version. Thanks!
