Tip: By Default, the GXE75 comes with UPnP enabled to accommodate better gaming devices, such as consoles, and gaming applications that may use additional ports.

 

If UPnP is not necessary for your network, or you would like to see the small performance increase possible with the setting disabled, feel free to disable the setting and configure port forwards for your devices.

Can you tell me if the router is able to be configured to 

1.Forward to an on premises DHCP server (not use the inbuilt DHCP)

2. Use an internal IP Range such as 10.0.0.x

 

and if there are any limitations around these two configurations.

Certain functions or features that rely on the router's DHCP server may indeed be affected. This includes features like Address Reservation and Guest Network. For example, if you have configured a local DHCP server on a NAS or Pi-Hole and have set up a guest network isolated from the main network on the router, devices connected to this guest network might not be able to access the internet.

 

When you disable the built-in DHCP server on the router, the router will stop assigning IP addresses and instead forward DHCP requests to the local network where the actual DHCP server is supposed to respond. This setup requires careful configuration to ensure that the DHCP server is properly set up to handle these requests and assign IP addresses within the desired range, such as 10.0.0.x.

Thanks that's what I was looking for.

 

I want to set the router up as 10.0.10.1 and have the devices on my network configured via my DHCP/DNS server, which will assign IPs from a 10,0,10,x range (subnet), and use a default gateway of 10.010.1.

 

My existing Telstra NBN router does not allow this, do I replacing the router (and the ISP)

As I understand, even with a new router, you will still need to connect it to the NBN modem. You cannot get rid of it.

 

Please confirm this with Telstra to ensure it meets your requirements.

oh yes switching to a different ISP, using the same NBN modem..

 

Just want to make sure from the router side, the internal network can be 10,x.x.x  and can use my internal servers :-)

 

(I don't want to have to reconfigure my dns and dhcp servers - just lazy - am happy with the current config)
