Model: KE100 KIT

Firmware Version:

Hello,

im Looking to Introduce several KE100 TRV into my smart home setup,

i have several Tapo deviced and Tapo Hub installed linked to me Tapo Sensors and Tapo Buttons

Obviously the KE100 only work on Kasa App, (god knows  why TP Link decided to have two brands and products ranged where only handfull devices work with each other)

Question 1

Do i need to buy a 2nd Tapo Hub H100 for solely for use of the Kasa TRV thermostats?

Question 2

I Have a Hive Thermostat Installed and set to a schedule? Do KE100 trvs work with Hive? , cant quite get my head round how the TRV will kick my boiler in. To Heat a radiator if say that TRV drops below a set temperature?

KE100 needs to pair with a Kasa KH100 hub, they're generally sold in a bundle as KE100KIT. Tapo H100 does not support KE100.

KE100 is a thermostat valve that controls the hot water flow, it cannot control the boiler.

  @Dancaw

You need Kasa KH100 hub which is sold as a kit with one TRV. There are some user reports that Tapo H100 hub is also compatible, but these have different firmware and you may encounter problems.

Tapo app is compatible and will pick up KH100 hub with TRV's once configured in Kasa app. Currently I observe there's a feature parity while the UI of Tapo is more compact and easier to use.

For boiler automation you need external service like Home Assistant to integrate products of different vendors, and of course proper hardware to control the boiler. Check my other posts/threads for more details. In some cases it would be better to replace current thermostat with simple NO/COM switch and set up the schedule and automation only in HA based on TRV heating demand. I saw many ridiculous ideas to control the thermostat (and boiler connected to it) by its target temperature, instead of just telling the boiler to turn on or off.
