Hi, where can I find latest public drivers for wn822n on Win11?

With official ones V5 (https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-wn822n/), the device is not working properly.

On this thread I found this one https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/244302.

But I need to know the latest ones for Win11.

Hi,

Have you already checked Windows Update?

I have a TL-WN823N (which has the same electronics as the TL-WN822N, just a different form factor) and Windows 11 has offered me the latest driver version from Oktober 2024 as optional "Driver update". I checked this on two different computers and both offered me the latest driver.

No, I don't have Realtek.

I would like to know the official link for latest public drivers.

The latest official driver posted by TP-Link would be the one that can be found here https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-wn822n/v6/ , but this is likely the same you already have.

TP-Link doesn't post every new driver that the manufacturer of the Wi-Fi chip makes on their website.

What makes you so sure your TL-WN822N doesn't have a chip from Realtek? As far as I am aware only very old versions of the TL-WN822N used a chip from another company (namely Atheros).

I have V6 installed but it doesn't work. Deactivates the card after a while, a reboot is required- then the same happens again.

Shouldn't drivers be updated on official page?

Well, ideally they should. But I don't know of any hardware manufacturer who puts every new driver version on their website.

In general, the Windows Update feature of Windows 10 and 11 does a pretty good job at keeping the drivers for many hardware components up to date.

You can get a clue of what kind of driver your TL-WN822N needs by looking at the "Properties" of your Wi-Fi connection and then search for a suitable newer driver via Google. Below is an example from my TL-WN823N.

By the way, the drivers that can be downloaded from other driver websites are no less "official" than the drivers you can download from TP-Link's website. It's mainly a matter of your personal definition of "official".
