Hi there,

I am in the process of integrating three M9 Plus devices into the home network to take over the wifi from the BT Homehub.

My plan is to configure the three M9's , set them into Access Point mode , cable one to the HomeHub and spread the others around the property. Once done I will turn off the wifi on the homehub and set up the Decu wifi network to match the credentials of the existing Homehub entwork to avoid having to reconfig all the devices in the home.

For the moment I want them to run in Access Point mode, so the Home Hub will still handle the connection ourwards to BT / DHCP and all that stuff.

Does it matter which of the M9 devices is physically cabled to the HomeHub once I've set up all three or does it not matter? Can I swap them around location to location once configured?

I notice the app seems to recongnise one device as the 'Main' device.

Thanks

Hi, the main Deco needs to be cabled into the ISP router.

Under AP mode, any Ethernet-connected Deco units have the chance to be the "Main Deco".

During the first setup, the Deco APP usually takes the first configured unit as the main Deco. After the configuration, if you have one more Deco unit that is also connected directly to the ISP host router via an Ethernet cable, it could be switched as the main Deco if needed.

Being Identified as "Main" Deco is mainly used for the Deco APP management. Actually, all the cable-connected Deco units share the internet bandwidth directly from the ISP router.

Best regards.

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

When Decos are working as wireless router mode, there must be a main Deco which should be connected to the front-end modem or something else directly. But whichever can be the main Deco if they are the same model.

When Decos are working access point model, it will required at least one Deco connected to the front-end main router directly. You can adjust locations of each Deco.

Please read this article to know more differences between router mode and AP mode on Deco.

So in AP mode I do not need the 'main' Deco to be cabled to the third-party router? It can be any of them?

Hi, under AP mode, if you want the satellite Deco to be the main Deco to connected to the front-end device, you may also update it on the Deco app at the same time.
