Hello all.

 

So after getting issues on the stock NOW BB modem/router where certain websites would not load (ebay, imdb and many more) but some sites would load ok.

 

I decided to get the VR2800, as it seemed to be one of not many modems that would work with Sky/NOW.

 

After the Archer worked great for about 2-3 months, we started to get issues where cabled connections would not connect on boot up with the router, wifi devices would be ok but the devices that failed on cable would then struggle to connect to the wifi, even though the devices already on the wifi would work fine.

 

I have reset the router 3 times now and after somewhere around 3-4 weeks of it working great it just starts to play up again.

 

So now i'm back on the stock modem again to be able to post here.

 

FW is on the latest, i just can't fathom what is going on??? Any help would be great!

Hi, welcome to our community.

Sorry, I am little confused about your expression about "we started to get issues where cabled connections would not connect on boot up with the router". 

Is the VR2800 often rebooted/restarted manually? 

And may I confirm some information to understand your question better?

1.How many wired client devices do you have? What are they?

2. Do all of them are connected to VR2800 via Ethernet cable but have no internet access? And then are they still failing to connect to wireless network, or connected without internet access?

Hi Marvin, thanks for the reply.

 

Ok, so no the router is not rebooted unnecessarily, only when i experience issues, which is roughly after a few weeks of it behaving as it should.

 

We have 2 desktops and 3 laptops on cat5 and cat6 cabled connections going to 2 x 8port Netgear 1000mbps switches (GS608v3)  all on Win 10 or 11

And 2 x android phones.

 

So last week i used 1 desktop fine, shut it down, then 10 mins later i booted a laptop up, and it could not get a working cabled connection. So i attempted to connect on wifi to either the 5g or 2.4 that the phones were using fine, but the laptop still would not connect. i rebooted the router the next morning and had the same issues. So i put the stock NOW BB modem/router back on and all is working fine again. So pretty sure it is nothing to do with the Windows machines.

 

But why the stock modem/router decides to stop accessing certain sites is another mystery ..... And this is why i got the VR2800, just to get different problems :(

 

Hope this sheds more light on the situation?
