Hi there. I have a set of X60 Decos distributed around my large house with thick walls and a TP link AX5400 VDSL to manage the incoming internet. One of the X60s is the main Deco and is wired to the AX5400 (two networks show on the Deco app which I find helpful). Some of the other Deco X60s are wired via Cat5 cables and some are not.

 

I tried using a Powerline PA7027P kit to get a wired connection to one of the (non-wired) X60s and this seems to have made my network unstable. 

 

Can you advise on why this might be and whether this set up is supposed to work? 

 

Before adding the Powerline it was fine.

Try to remove the switches and connect one PLC directly to your modem router and the other one directly to the X60.

If you need more ethernet ports after X60, connect the switch to the other X60 port. AFAIK some D-Link switches may interfere ethernet backhaul creation.

You can't permanently damage your X60 by connecting it to a PLC. Resetting the X60 and adding it to Deco mesh again most probably should solve that issue.

It's important to check what mode X60s work in - router mode or AP mode. If you have gone through the guides I posted, there's a difference in network topology in these two cases as well as switch positioning.

Also pay attention to the second hyperlink I posted - there are some beta FW releases that could help X60 v2/v4 ethernet backhaul creation.

Go through this configuration guide and double check your topology.

I have now checked the guides and it looked like my switches might have been an issue.

 

In effect, I was using two switches to connect the Powerline to the main router - one at the Router end (connected to the wired network in the house) and one at the end where one of the wired Deco X60s is positioned which is long way from the router. The X60 is wired to that switch also and I was hoping to take the incoming internet signal via the Powerline to another X60 which was previously wireless.

 

After reading the guides I have checked both switches and they are on IEEE 802.3x which I understand meets the 1905.1 standard. 

 

Can you suggest any other things I can check? I have for the time being removed the Powerlines from the network and all is fine - but it was showing on various of my apps as being unstable when the Powerline was connected and that set up seems to have permanently affected one of my X60s which I have had to take out of the system now too!
