TL-WA1801 - Maximum number of devices connected to 2.4GHz wifi
Hello support,
I'm looking for a new AP because my TL-MR3420 can't handle simultaneously 70 devices, but only 32.
my question is simple: how many devices can be simultaneously connected to the 2.4GHz wifi of Access Point TL-WA1801?
Thank you in advance!

Hi @ironmanc,
The recommended number of connections for each band of MR600 is about 32, so even if you buy the higher-performance WA1801, it still depends on the recommended number of connections of the gateway router (that is, MR600).
If your network source is a sim card and MR600 is a newly purchased product. It is recommended that you return it and consider deco X20-4G.
In addition, are all 70 devices IoT devices? Due to the limitations of 2.4G technology and performance, it is generally rare to add so many devices at the same time.
If your network source is not a sim card but a network transmitted by an ISP via an Ethernet cable, then you can also consider the new model in Deco - it supports to assign different 2.4G clients to different Deco units.

Hi @ironmanc,
The recommended number of clients for TL-MR3420 is 16. So in your case, the number of connections for TL-MR3420 is close to the recommended number of clients.
For the TL-WA1801 you inquired about, the number of client connections for it as an Access Point also depends on the number of clients that the front-end gateway router(main router) can connect to.
Is your router only TL-MR3420? If so, you may need to consider a higher-performance router. If you can only use a 34G USB modem, unfortunately, we currently have no other models that can meet your needs.

Hi @Joseph-TP and thank you.
Let me explain the case:
my friend's network is filled with 2.4GHz IOT devices.
The main router is an Archer MR600 V1 to which we connected via LAN my MR3420.
Things worked well until we reached 32 connected devices. Then the disconnection and reconnection problems emerged.
We thought of buying the TL-WA1801 as it is newer than the MR4320, with the goal of connecting about 70 devices.
In your opinion, then, is this not possible? Not even if we are talking about IOT devices?
Thank you in advance
