Model: VX230v
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have a problem with the TP-Link vx230v modem I purchased from AGL in December 2023, when I signed up for their 100/20 plan + home phone. I canceled my AGL account after 11 months and joined another ISP (MATE). I kept the AGL modem as it was not locked by AGL. I factory reset the modem, logged in via Firefox Browser with 192.168.1.1 and changed the username, password and other settings for my new ISP and saved. All is working well and my internet connection is great as well as my VoIP phone service.

My issue is: I have to factory reset the modem to be able to log in via my browser using 192.168.1.1.
I cannot log in without doing the factory reset. All I get when I enter 192.168.1.1 into my browser is an error which shows "Cannot connect". It's the same error message with 4 different browsers (Edge, Vivaldi, Brave and Firefox).

This is extremely annoying, especially to other users in my household who lose connection when ever I reset the modem. After the factory reset I can connect with 192.168.1.1 and the modem page displays asking for the password. It's frustrating because it also defaults to my original AGL username and password (in the Basic Internet section) which I have to change each time, to my new MATE id. Can anyone help? I have contacted TP-Link and all they do is give me a standard set of instruction, but none of them work.
I'd love a fix for this if possible. Many thanks for reading, Cheers.

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

As VX230v is a customized model by some ISPs only, there may be some customized settings on this model by your ISP. So your requirement may be limited by your previous ISP.

It is a pity that we have no further suggestions here.

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded a firmware upgrade via the TP-Link website and after upgrading, it seems to have worked so I can now log in to the modem. Touch wood it stays that way.
