I have a Windows 11 computer connected direct to my router via an ethernet cable. I want to share files with it from my Laptop, also running Windows 11. The directly connected compute does not appear on my network in Windows explorer. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi  @santehombre

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—router—switch—PCs or ISP modem—router—PCs?

Is the Windows explorer you mentioned a certain location on the PC? Can you provide a screenshot?

If two devices want to access each other, please make sure they are properly connected to the same LAN, not in different networks.

@santehombre Make sure 'Network Discovery' and 'File Sharing' are enabled on both computers by going to Control Panel > Network & Sharing Center. Also, ensure both devices are set to a 'Private' network profile instead of 'Public.' Check if 'SMB File Sharing' is enabled in Windows Features, as it’s required for file sharing. You can also try temporarily disabling the firewall to see if it's blocking the connection. If the computer doesn’t appear in File Explorer, try manually accessing it by typing \\ComputerName or \\IP-Address in the address bar. Hope this helps!

@santehombre When it comes to sharing files with a remote computer on LAN, the easiest methods usually involve enabling file sharing in Windows settings, setting proper permissions, or using FTP for larger networks. However, sometimes you also need quick tools for handling media files while collaborating. For instance, can help you instantly convert videos to MP3 format, making it easier to share lightweight audio files across your LAN without consuming too much bandwidth.
