Can anyone help with this question please, can I set up multiple SSID's with this router ?

No, you just cannot have multiple SSID'S with TP-W8970... Maybe you have see that for other modem routers or just plain routers this ability, but TD-W8970 has not this functionality.... Maybe by using third party firmware like for example OpenWRT (has not released yet firmware for td-w8970 but there is work in progress. Who knows, maybe they will add that functionality).

You can't see multi ssid options on TD-W8970;s management interface,which means this product doesn't have this function.I remember that all current TP-LINK ADSL products don't have multi-ssid,but some wireless routers do have this function.On TP-LINK official website ,Support----TP-LINK Emulators,there are a lot of products listed,where you can find the management of various products(But any configuration won't take effect as it's just an emulator).So you can find what product have the function you have.Here is the URL: http://www.tp-link.com/en/support/emulators/

That's a real shame, as the TD-W8970 has everything (other than Multiple SSID's) that I need and at a great price too......my search for a replacement ADSL Router continues

I don't know about 8970,but my TL-W8968 v2 supports three SSIDs that and works perfectly.
