TL-SG105 Ethernet Switch - P2P PC to PC connection
I want to set up a wired P2P Ethernet connection between my laptop PC and my desktop PC, like...
Laptop PC > ethernet cable > switch > ethernet cable > desktop PC
I have no router.
Can I use the TL-SG105 Switch to do this?
Have I got the right equipment?
I know little about this; how do I set it up?
[Please do not suggest Wifi; I want hardwired Ethernet for security].

You should be able to do this, the two computers must be set to be on the same Local Area Network (LAN) Internet Protocol (IP) address range. This configuration doesn’t have a DHCP server handing out LAN IP addresses, or DNS and Internet Gateway settings - so all that has to be done manually. You have to set the ‘properties’ of the Network Interface terminating the cable from the switch to a LAN address e.g. 192.168.1.10 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 … you then need to set the other PC on the same subnet, but a different last octet e.g. 192.168.1.15 with the same subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
