I am trying to configure a VPN client connection on my router to connect to my other router (UniFi Gateway). I put in all the parameters, and when I try to connect, it just gets stuck at Connecting. The same parameters are used on my phone and laptop and they work fine. I set up an OpenVPN client connection on the same AX73 router to the same UniFi gateway, and it works fine. The only issue is with the L2TP connection.

Any advice?

Hi  @Nadz777,

Would you mind providing some screenshots of the setup interface and error messages?
In addition, it is recommended to close the OpenVPN client and then configure L2TP to compare and test whether L2TP VPN can be configured normally? Two VPN connections may affect network bandwidth.

@Joseph-TP Hi Joseph. I did not attempt to run concurrent VPN connections. I was only mentioning that the OpenVPN connection works, while the L2TP connection doesn't. I also configured the L2TP connection while the OpenVPN connection was off.

There is no error message when attempting the connection. It only shows Connecting and stays in that state until it is manually canceled. I used the same configuration that was used to configure my other devices (server address, username/password, pre-shared key...). Do you still need screenshots of that?

Hi  @Nadz777,

Please confirm whether you have configured L2TP VPN according to the following instructions: How to Configure PPTP/L2TP VPN Connection on Your Router (new logo)

If there are no problems with the steps and settings, please provide relevant setting screenshots. Since the setting information may contain personal information, it is recommended that you send the screenshots to the official email support.forum@tp-link.com, attaching Forum ID 734162 and details, and we will have a dedicated person to assist in analysis and follow-up.
