So I went ahead and conected the unit to the laptop with the Ethernet and it worked fine I could go out side and still get a signal.
The following day my telephone company bought me a new router with the WPS button on. After connecting the router it worked fine and i had WiFI to my normal points so now i come to connect the TL-WA830RE and nothing I followed Method one and the range extender light flashes but will not stay on after two minutes it goes of I have been trying everything and afeter reseting the unit I have now put it back in the box until I can get some
help.My router works fine I have Ethernet connections and WIFi ok through the router but no joy with this range extender.

I am English and Live in the Canary Islands I am wondering if this is a problem ?

router did not have WPS or QSS button

Forget that button, disable WPS or QSS on web interface
So I went ahead and conected the unit to the laptop with the Ethernet and it worked fine

Have you try to connect as you connected the first time, if answer is yes and no avail, try using static ip and use this tuto http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=348 all the IPs in tutos, example 192.168.0.254 not necessarily are the ones you need to use, if still no avail read this tuto post #5 https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=48576 I see a firewall rule or parental control issue on new router from ISP (internet service provider) if there is no fee, call your ISP and tell them to guide you to disable firewall and parental control in case it is the issue.
too, read post #7 here http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?3591-TL-WA850RE-Drops-Internet-Connection&region=china
if still no avail, answer this
1-Post the IP address of your isp router, try below the router something like this 192.168.0.1
2-are you able to lay lan cable from isp router to where you want the 830

You been posting Router, they have brand and model, someone could have your brand & model and can help.
If money is not a matter, and easy solution, buy a TL router model 740 or 741 connect LAN cable from any of the free ports of your ISP router and connect to 740 or 741 to Wan port the blue one, and with luck they are in dif ip, if not you have to change it, then link 830 with 740 or 741 and we can go to our favorite Bar and enjoy a good beer.

Refer this: http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=566
Just try method 2. Personally I never use the WPS button.
