Deco X50-5G VPN WireGuard Server setup

Hello together,
I have some issues with my Deco X50-5G to set up an VPN WireGuard Server.
This was the FAQ and I have used the same settings:
https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/faq/3988/
TP-Link DYNDNS is working fine nslookup shows the right IP.
My first question, is port forwarding necessary?
Can I use the same settings from the FAQ when the DECO X50-IP is 192.168.1.100?
Hope someone can help me.
Thanks in advance
Joe

Hi, welcome to the community.
If your SIM carrier is using CG-NAT service, port forwarding is necessary but might not be on Deco X50-5G.
Between the Deco and ISP SIM service, there is one more firewall/NAT for the VPN connection to get through.

"when the DECO X50-IP is 192.168.1.100"
Is the 192.168.1.100 the IPv4 address on the Deco X50-5G? Did the DDNS lookup report another IP address?
Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi thanks for you feedback.
My SIM carrier TELEKOM Germany is using CG-NAT. I have only the possibilty to buy a IP6 option / 5 € per month.
After discussion with the TELEKOM I think that this is the only possibility.
What du you thínk, will wireguard work with a IP6 option?
Thanks an best regards

Hi, Thanks for the update.
I'm afraid Deco WireGuard VPN doesn't support an IPV6 connection yet.
Best regards.

What VPN Server would you propose to use a IPV6 on a Deco X50? Is OpenVPN or L2TP/IPSec an option?

Hi, the VPN server feature on Deco doesn't support IPV6 for now, no matter whether it is using WireGuard/OpenVPN or L2TP/IPSec protocol.
Best regards.

Hi David,
Now I have a fixed IPV6, can you explain me why it is not possible to use it?
Is that a VPN Server issue or is it a internet problem to use a fixed IPV6. At the moment I can not connect the internet provider with the IPV6 settings (without VPN).
My plan was to use a fixed IPV6 internet connection with the DECO and a VPN-Server on my synologie or Raspi.
Best regards

Hi, it's mainly because the Deco VPN feature doesn't support an IPv6 connection. There is no available IPV6 VPN tunnel, and Deco VPN server can't assign IPV6 addresses to the VPN Clients either.
Thank you very much and best regards.
