Cannot update firmware on TD-W8961ND, failed to calibrate system clock

Hello,
I have been experiencing some debilitating internet issues recently including an extremely slow connection and many connection drops. I am trying to rule out all possibilities of the cause of the problem. Hence, I am trying to update the firmware on my TD-W8961ND.
However, I am not able to access the screen to load the new firmware due to this error message:
"ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO... Failed to calibrate system clock."
Can someone please help me to update the firmware of my router.
