Hello,

I have been experiencing some debilitating internet issues recently including an extremely slow connection and many connection drops. I am trying to rule out all possibilities of the cause of the problem. Hence, I am trying to update the firmware on my TD-W8961ND.

However, I am not able to access the screen to load the new firmware due to this error message:

"ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO... Failed to calibrate system clock."

Can someone please help me to update the firmware of my router.

Do you connect to your TD-W8961ND via wireless?
If you want to upgrade your firmware, you must connect to it via wired(using a cable), that will be more stable
