Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I have 2 villas that have LAN cable running from a lobby. Both cables currently run separately and both villas have their own routers. I have just purchased 4 Deco M4 units to replace the routers and have mesh access across both villas.

One of the routers I will replace is an Archer A64 and this will then go into the lobby to connect to the internet and use the exisiting LAN cables to connect the Deco routers.

The question is, I want to be able to Ethernet backhaul the entire system without having to re install cable.

Is it possible to integrate the Archer A64 into the mesh system to act as the first point of distribution to then connect all nodes to it via ethernet.

Will this create a backhaul setup or it's not possible unless the first point of connection is the first deco node and each node needs to connect to it via LAN

Hi, welcome to our community.

Only Decos can join and set up Deco mesh network. So Archer A64 can not set up Deco mesh router with Decos.

If you want to use Ethernet Backhaul for the Deco network, this guide may help a lot:

Thank you and best regards.
