Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TL-WPA281

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version :

ISP :

Please ignote the model number, the drop down doesn't have the 6010 in there yet.

How can I tell if I have the latest firmware?

In the utility the local device information says firmware: 600A-5-3-5317-00-1545-20130221-FINAL-B.

No idea what this relates to, but I've downloaded both firmware versions from tp-link.com ( http://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/?model=TL-PA6010KIT&version=V1):

TL-PA6010KIT(EU_V1_131009
TL-PA6010KIT(EU_V1_131219

and they both have the same .nvm file dated 21/02/2013 (dd/mm/yyyy).

The PIB file is different though and has different dates in the filenames 131009 and 131219.

Am I on the latest one or not? As the last one says speed improvements in the notes.

Also, do I just apply the firmware to the local one and it propagates to the remote devices? If not how do I update the remote devices?

Unanswered question from April?? Wow, hopefully I will hear back before another 7 months go by... When I first connected the TL-PA6010KIT, the utility indicated that firmware ver. 131218 was installed. I noticed on the downloads section of the website that a newer firmware was available (131219) so I downloaded and installed it, but now the utility indicates that version 131216 is installed. What is going on???

The file that I downloaded was on the following page:
http://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/?model=TL-PA6010&version=V1

Link name:
TL-PA6010(EU)_V1_131219

Actual link path:
http://www.tp-link.com/resources/software/TL-PA6010(EU_V1_131219.zip

Files included:
MAC-7450-v5.3.1-00-X-FINAL.nvm
QCA7450_v5.3.1.00_CEClassB_3s_PA6010_131216_003.pib

Before firmware was installed, my link rate was at 111Mbps. After I installed the firmware from your site, it is now at 94Mbps. Please help!!

Does it affect your internet speed?
Did you try to reset both and pair them again?

As I see on TP-LINK website, the old firmware is 131009. Why yours is 131218 before upgrade? Any screenshots?
Yours are EU version or US version indeed?

Ada, I upgraded from the TL-PA4010KIT to the TL-PA6010KIT because my TV kept buffering when playing movies from my server which is connected to the Powerline adapter. I was hoping that the 10/100Mb connection might be a bottleneck so I purchased the Gigabit model. I just tested the same movie and it is still buffering just as often. HOWEVER, I did not test the connection with the original Firmware that came on the device (131218) which is what is bothering me since I saw that the connection speed via TP-LINK utility did indicate it was at 111Mbps.

I already reset and paired the devices after the firmware was installed but now, with the 131216 Firmware, the bandwidth fluctuates between 45Mbps - 80Mbps.

Vivian, I can not tell you why it was already on 131218 when I originally purchased. That is what was pre-installed. I don't have any screenshots because I didn't think the website would have older / slower firmware listed incorrectly. I would assume my model is US version because it was purchased in the US, but is there any way I can confirm I have the right version? It does have the standard two-prong plug that we use in the US.

It is strange that your version is US but you upgrade EU version successfully.
Contact TP-LINK technical support and ask them to provide the original firmware for TP-PA 6010 US version. To upgrade the original firmware should be able to slove all your troubles. Good luck.
