Wireguard server provides access to home network but not internet

I have set up a wireguard server and added an account(iphone), the account can access devices on the local network and ping devices while connected through wireguard but can not reach the internet despite having 'Internet and home network' slected in the configuration page. My internet set up has a vlan ID so I am wondering if that may be the root cuase.

@thomas_l I'm running into the same issue you described here--were you able to figure out what was causing the issue?

Hi,
There is a work around, you need to edit the wireguard config file on your client to change the dns from 10.5.5.1 to your own dns service of choice(eg. 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8). But as it stands you currently cant use the router dns.

@Joseph-TP Did you ever get a solution to this? I have a similar issue (my ipv4 address is being converted to an ipv6 address as shown in the iOS WireGuard app's log), except that I futher can't access any resources on the local network, with the exception of those served by my VPN server-hosting router. This doesn't appear to have anything to do with DNS, as I can't even access those local host computers when putting in an IP address instead of

Hi@willyside,
Thank you for contacting our community.
May I know what is your network topology?
Is there any error message? Please take screenshots with error message and VPN settings, then send here.
For your issue, please try:
1. Use MacBook to connect to the VPN server in the external network.
2. Ping 8.8.8.8 to check if there is a response.

3. If ping receives a response, please change the DNS in the configuration file from 10.5.5.1 to 8.8.8.8, and then test whether you can access the Internet.
