Hi!

im updating my network and am finally retiring the last m5.

im running an x50-4g as main router because I occasionally lose fibre internet and have to revert to mobile data backup.

my service is Sub 1gbs at the moment (although technically up to 5gb)

I have very thick walls in stone but I've achieved at least two deco bars (out of three) on all 4 satellites by placement to cover the house. 150mbs pretty much everywhere (except near m5) which is fine for our home. 25-30 devices max most are plugs etc. Up to 10 phones/macs say.

everything is wireless because the thunderstorms previously fried devices through the unprotected cat6

So, ignoring the possibility of needing to swap back when trees fall on the fibre line again...

I just bought a be25. Should I keep it as a satellite to the x50, or use it as main?

thanks

  @Danno60

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

If the current bandwidth is technically up to 5 G/s, it would be better to use Deco BE25 as the main Deco.

You could refer to this link to replace the main Deco and it will keep the current network configurations:

How to replace the main Deco with another Deco-- Case two

By the way, Do you have any 6GHz compatible 6GHz devices?

Best regards.

  @David-TP

thanks for prompt reply.

no I don't have any 6ghz devices and don't specifically plan to-its a domestic situation not work.

main aim for buying the be25 was to be rid of any wifi5 satellites and to hopefully have a bit more oomph to push through the stone walls in the first hop.

so I will set the be25 as main deco, thanks for advice

i dont expect the download speeds to exceed 1gb anytime soon as I'm 100 miles from nearest server.

when I upgrade in future I can slowly relegate this device to the far corners of the network (where the m5 is now!)

So few expectations but maybe a pleasant surprise awaits-say all decos with three bars would be nice!
