Hi All,
I just thought I would bring it to your attention that a new firmware update is now available from the global TPLink support site for the W8980 wireless router.

I have updated my router, and had no issues after reboot. Some of the issues fixed are as follows......



Fixed the issue unable to open port 65535 in virtual server
[*]Fixed the issue two LAN devices in different Interface Groups can communicate with each other
[*]Changed the MTU range in PPPOA to 576-1500
[*]Fixed the issue that in some regions, router can’t connect to Internet automatically after rebooting
[*]Fixed issue unable to dial if the PPP password is empty
[*]Fixed the SNMP issue
[*]Fixed the issue wireless clients in 2.4GHz can’t communicate with wireless devices in 5GHz
[*][Updated 5GHz WiFi driver, solved 5GHz wireless dropping issues in some regions
[*]Fixed other bugs and issues

Please ensure that you are using the correct file for the version of router that you have. Mine is version 1.0, and I had no issues whatsoever.

Where have the Backup/Restore options gone in the latest firmware?

Are you a TPLink person? If so, would you be able to point me to the Backup/Restore options in the new firmware? They seem to have disappeared (or at least don't appear in mine).

My TD-W8980 status shows my firmware level as: 0.6.0 1.7 v000e.0 Build 140619 Rel.51112n.

Thanks for any info that can be supplied.

missing many arrangements:

* Security Options, Anti DDOS Attack, Block domains, URLs, IPs and MAC Addresses External.
* Remember Me Option DDNS.
* Incorrect time zones. eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_time_zones_by_UTC_offset
* (Optional) more fields to add NTP servers about 5 is enough. See software: http://www.timesynctool.com/
* (Optional) Display Tool Local Network Traffic. See software: http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/

this was already reported. I have only to wait for the next firmware.

DDoS protection function in models 8970 and 8980 existed since the first firmware, the setting is only hidden, access must go to: http://192.168.0.1/ # __ddos.htm
change the IP address if it is different in your case.

Hi Randy,
I am not a TPLink operative I'm afraid! Just a consumer of their product.
I just posted the link out for the new firmware as I thought I may be picked up quicker from the forum, rather than searching the TPLink support site every few months :-)

The settings for backup/restore on my W8980 are in "System Tools" near the bottom of the main menu, the 6th one down within System Tools...

On my W8980, the Backup & Restore in in "System Tools" from the main menu......then within that menu, the 6th entry down is Back & Restore.

thank you very much, the problem is that it is hidden and not visible in the control panel menu. not if I search the other options are hidden.

enter the address: http://192.168.1.1/# __ddos.htm and not displayed.

The new firmware disable comunication with diferente gruops, "Fixed the issue two LAN devices in different Interface Groups can communicate with each other", how can I see diferent computres of diferents groups with new firmware ???
I try with Static Route but no loocky.
