can someone explain settings on w8980n to allow wireless bridge for w8960n as I seem to be unable to get it to work

Your main router is? Can you give us screen shot from your settings? W8980 and W8960N have different chipset and I think that is main problem in WDS configuration.

I think your right about chipset issues.
Previously master w8980n didn't need any wds settings to work perfectly with TL-WA850RE range extender.

I have wds setting switched on on w8980n with slave MAC and ssid inserted.

I have followed guide for two w8960n in relation to using my w8960n as bridge.

The conclusion I have come to is that the bridge doesn't sync with master W8980n as I find as soon as I activate bridge mode in W8960n the wireless and associated MAC address disappear off wifi radar.

I have tried for many hours without success

WA850RE it is typical repeater however.


W8960N like W8980 are typical ADSL routers and radio functions are minimized.
