Model: Archer AX72 Pro
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.40133(4555)

Every night at about midnight, my router goes through this teardown and release, dropping the internet connection... I see via google it's a bug, but I can't see anything specific for this model. What are my options?

Hi@xthesaintx,

Does the problem occur at a fixed time each time? How do you restore the network?

When the network is disconnected, please use other devices to directly connect to the modem to test whether the modem is providing network normally at this time?

Because it may be caused by the scheduled restart of the modem.

If the problem occurs at a fixed time, you can also set Reboot Schedule to restart the router: Go to Advanced > System Tools > Reboot Schedule.

In addition, please change a different Ethernet cable to connect the modem and router, and you can also try to modify the DNS: How to Change the DNS Servers on a TP-Link Wireless Router (New UI)

Hi@xthesaintx,

Thank you for your reply.

If this is the case, there is nothing wrong with the network connection method. It is likely a hardware problem, but I think you can first hard reset to rule out the setting problem.
If the same problem still exists after hard reset, you can consult local support for warranty service.

  @Joseph-TP
It happens at roughly the same time, not the same time.

I have to log in and manually renew the lease.

The local network remains intact, just WAN drops

There is no Reboot schedule enabled.

I have tried using the ISP provided DNS settings and

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

and I have swapped cables.

Still happens

  @xthesaintx,

Sorry for the late reply.

Do you have a convenient way to test the ISP's network with another router for comparison? Observe whether there are WAN drops in a similar time period (i.e. midnight)?
Or, when the connection drops, use a PC to cross the router to test the ISP's network. We need to rule out the ISP's own reboot schedule problem first.

  @Joseph-TP yep, I've put an omada er605 in, using the archer as an wifi AP.  Will check the logs in a few days to see if I've had the same issue

  @Joseph-TP So, I swapped my router from an AX72 Pro to an Omada ER605. It's been in for a week, and I've had no teardown/release dropouts. I suspect the fault lies with the Archer AX72 Pro 1.0. The unit is only 6-7 months old.

Hi@xthesaintx,

Thank you for your testing result and feedback.

May I know what is your network topology? Is it like: ISP modem--Archer AX72--clients devices.

Please try to hard reset the router as below:

Keep the power on, press and hold the RESET button until the Power LED blinks to reset the router to its factory default settings.

If the issue persists, it is recommended that you can contact local support for further help.
