Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I'm troubleshooting an issue with my Deco mesh WiFi system in Access Point mode. My setup is:

Modem → Router → Switch → Main Deco and 3rd Deco (both wired to switch)

My 2nd Deco is positioned between these two and has no wired connection (wireless backhaul only).

The problem: Despite my 3rd Deco being wired directly to the switch, it seems to be ignoring the ethernet connection for data backhaul. Internet speeds around this 3rd unit are surprisingly slow - performing as if it's using wireless backhaul instead of the wired connection I've provided.

Has anyone experienced this issue where a wired Deco unit doesn't properly utilize its ethernet connection in Access Point mode? Any troubleshooting steps to force it to use the wired backhaul instead of wireless?

Hi, welcome to our community.

You may follow the steps below to troubleshoot:

1. How long Ethernet cable you used to connect 3rd Deco to the switch?  Please change another a shorter cable move it close to the switch for a try.

2. Change different Ethernet port on the switch and your 3rd Deco for a try.

3. Change 3rd Deco as new main Deco and change original main Deco as new 3rd Deco to confirm whether it is the same result. How to replace the main Deco with another Deco

4. You may check whether Decos work via Wireless Backhaul or Ethernet Backhaul on Deco app.

Thank you and best regards.
