Model: Archer MR505
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.13.1 Build 240205 Rel. 59931n(4555)

We have been using our MR505 with a Lyca mobile data SIM for several months without issue. As of about 3 days ago, we no longer have internet access. We can connect to the WiFi network, but there is no internet connection.

I have tried the SIM in a mobile phone and it works. I have tried a different SIM in the MR505, and that works too. But put the Lyca SIM in the MR505 and we have problems.

To further confuse the matter, whilst none of our mobile devices nor the TV will connect to the internet, I fired up my ancient laptop and that DOES connect to the internet via the WiFi network (no cable).

I have tried all of the obvious things - factory reset on the router, wiping all of the WiFi networks from my phone and reconnecting, turning everything on and off multiple times.

The APN settings are apparently (?) correct:

PDP Type: IPv4 & IPv6

APN Type: Static

APN: data[DOT]lycamobile[DOT]co[DOT]uk (forum seems to think this is an external link!)

Username: lmuk

Password: plus

Authentication Type: CHAP

I don't know what else to try... Any suggestions?

Re:No internet connection (except via an old laptop!)-Solution

I've fixed it!

The default Lyca mobile profile was "IPv4 & IPv6", but I noticed that only the IPv6 address was populated. The IPv4 address was 0.0.0.0, i.e the router had apparently not obtained an IPv4 address.

I created a new profile with all the same APN settings, but selected "IPv4 only". With this profile selected, I could now see that the router had a valid IPv4 address.

Everything connected to the network now has internet access. Note that I also switched "Smart Connect" back on, as this proved not to be a 5G/2.4G issue

Although this fix has worked, I would be interested to know whether it's possible to stick with an "IPv4 & IPv6" profile and make sure the router obtains valid addresses for both.

Further to the above, if I open the tether app, it clearly shows "No Internet" for the Archer MR505. If I look at the Client list, I can see that my laptop is connected via 2.4g (and it has a working internet connection, despite tether saying the router has no internet). All other devices are connected via 5G and they don't work.

So, thinking this must be a 5G issue, I have tried switching off "Smart Connect" and instead having seperate 2.4G and 5G networks. Well, the laptop still works when connected to the 2.4G network, buut nothing else does. So I'm none the wiser :-(

  @BRG01

Hi, thanks for all your sharing on our community.

If you take the Lyca mobile data SIM card out of the router and put it in your phone, could you please check how the phone get the internet access?

Using both via IPv4 and IPv6 or only IPv6?

On the Dial-up Settings part of the router, you may change the Profile Name to the back-up one for a try.

Best regards.
