I have a Virgin Media customer who has a holiday cottage and wants to use his Virgin Media package whilst away.
He needs a wifi setup for Chromecast to work and I have suggested he purchase a TP-Link TD-W8968 wireless router to use with his virgin media 3G usb dongle.

My question is will the Virgin Media dongle work with the TD-W8968? The only information on the 3G dongle is Alcatel Onetouch X2303 -2AVRGB1
He doesn't want to lay out £35 ish on the router if it is not compatible.

Not sure as it is not in the compatiblity list of W8968.
You are a reseller? You may test for the customer and his dongle? :)

Hi, No I am not a reseller but an IT Support Engineer.
The customer approached me for a solution to his problem of not being able to set up Chromecast on his laptop with just a 3G Dongle as Chromecast needs WiFi. I thought about using the W8968 as a 3G WiFi router which would allow him to use the existing USB dongle in the W8968 and connect his laptop and iPad wirelessly.
The only issue was the dongle compatibility with the router. He doesn't want to spend £35 for the router not to be compatible. Do you think TP-Link would supply one for testing???

However W8968 is typical ADSL router.
