None of them support shell access using telnet or SSH.

This is possible with alternative firmware - OpenWRT and working very good.

The problem with 3rd party firmware is currently none of them (OpenWRT, DD-WRT, Gargoyle) support hardware NAT which greatly affect the WAN to LAN throughput. :(

Any "backdoor" method to achieve this using stock firmware? Seem kind of silly to leave out this simple feature which is common on most router nowadays!

I know OpenWRT support shell access but perhaps you didn't read my earlier reply clearly. Unless OpenWRT developer implement Hardware NAT feature it's pointless to use it, imagine using 1Gbps broadband connection and only getting about a quarter of the speed, does it make any sense?

That's normal without hardware NAT support. You have to think about another router brands. I recommend Mikrotik for this.

Well can't be help since I already purchase the TP-Link router. Anyway, it's so easy to implement shell access (telnetd) via busybox in the stock firmware, just a matter of whether they want to do it or not.

You have to report it here - http://ticket.tp-link.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit

Hmm, did I mentioned you?
I given up on their (TP-Link) so called technical support. I reported a firmware bug, they acknowledge but yet nothing was done till this day!
