Hi,

I have been using my TD-W9980 as my modem/router for a week or so (i just got FTTC) and i did have a very stable 70Mb/s down 18Mb/s up but then it completely conked out (less than 1Mb/s down constantly) i reset the router and it was fine again but only for a few hours :(

I would like to know how to fix this (my previous ADSL routers were never turned off in years and never had any problems)?

I would also like to know how to connect/setup the TD-W9980 by the WAN port to the VDSL modem provided by BT so i can just see if that makes any difference.

thx.

Firmware version of your TD-W9980 is up to date?
What's the ISP speed? When you get stable 70Mb/s down 18Mb/s up, can you login web interface and check line rate upstream&downstream?
When speed goes down, can you still login web interface and check line rate upstream&downstream to make a comparison?

To work with BT router, you can configure TD-W9980 in wireless router mode and its LAN4 port is the WAN port. Choose Dynamic IP as WAN Type. Ensure there is no IP conflict between BT and W9980.

Max Rate (Kbps) 29628 96390
SNR Margin (dB) 15.9 10.9
Line Attenuation (dB) 10.8 11.3
Errors (Pkts) 0 0

These stats do not change when i get drop-outs.

Im back to "normal" at the moment but i shall keep an eye on it (o BTW it was 75Mb/s down really not 70, i misread).

RE:- the WAN port through VDSL modem, Ahh thank you for that info. I thought that setting it in wireless router mode sounded like it was only going to be be a wireless router i.e. i could not use the other 3 LAN ports but i assume that is incorrect, I shall have a tinker next time it falters.

Many thx.

The latest firmware of W9980 fixed the bug that the speed dropped on the BT line of UK when G.INP was enabled. Upgrade it and test. :)
