In factory default settings, TD-8817 is working in bridge mode. Why do you want to enable it? There is another router to work with it?

no router, i use the TD-8817 by its self, read some where to run this modem in bridge mode, which it is by what you say, still, what would bridge interface do if enabled, nothing unless your using a router with this modem correct?

If you want to share internet but no any other router, don't reset your TD-8817 to make it work n bridage mode.

PPPOA VC MUX is the info given by your ISP?
If so, you have to use TD-8817 as a modem router.

thats the problem, my ISP won't give me the info i need because TPLink TD-8817 is not one of their modems, the ISP is Telstra Bigpond, so i'm not sure what encapulation to use, MTU & TCP MSS values, all i know from reading on google is the VPI & VCI is 8-35, run the TD-8817 as a modem router, what do you mean exactly

To configure TD-8817 as a modem router, what you need is VPI, VCI, connection type, encapsulation mode, username and password.
It is unbelievable that your ISP won't provide those info.
Did you try 8, 35, PPPoA, VC-MUX, your ISP username and password on web interface of TD-8817?
To solve the installation problem quickly, you'd better call TP-LINK support team directly.
For Australian Users Only

i have called TPLink, they can't help me without the info from the ISP, not their fault, Telstra is absolute BS not giving me the info, anyway, i'll try what you mention, for MTU & MSS, would the default 1480, 1400 MSS, be fine to use?

Leave other settings in default and just configure what I said to try.
Don't tell me that your ISP doesn't give you username and password...lol

lol, no problem with the user and pass, i've tried what you said, it seems to be working good, the only other thing i'm not sure of is what to set RIB to, RIB1, RIB-2B, RIB-2M, IGMPv1, v2, v3, the only thing connected is a PS3, can i disable this stuff, or is it best to leave it at default?
