ISP : Plusnet

I've swapped out my old Belkin router for the TD-W8968. Now I find the new router isn't advising dyn.com of it's WAN IP address. I have double checked that the dyndns hostname, username & password are entered correctly in the router, but when I log in to dyn.com's website I can tell that the router has not informed dyn.com of its IP address. Is this feature supposed to work or is it a known problem?

Your firmware is not the latest version.

It's a new router, I didn't expect to have to update the firmware as I only just bought it. Also there's nothing about a fix for DDNS in the release notes for the updated firmware. But I will update it and try again tonight. Thanks for your help.

OK, I've updated the router to the latest firmware. It's still not updating dyndns with the allocated IP address. I've added a no-ip.com hostname to DDNS and if I check in the log it looks like it's updating the noip DDNS but still not the dyndns hostname. Here are some lines from the log:




















Jan 1 00:00:40 daemon crit syslog: CHAP authentication success!
Jan 1 00:00:40 daemon crit syslog: Received valid IP address from server. Connection UP.
Jan 1 00:00:52 user err syslog: noip 0,return code:0,IP address is already set!


Why isn't it updating my dyndns hostname?

If you ping no-ip.com hostname, what's the IP address displayed?
On Dyndns website, the IP address is updated or not?
Try to restart W8968 to see what happens.

At the moment, everything is correct because I set it manually. I'll wait to see what happens when my ISP changes my IP.

I've sent the router back for a refund having had nothing but trouble with it. I couldn't make WPS work either. Gone back to my old Belkin router which has better range, even though its older and only has internal aerials.
