Archer BE230(EU) can't establish a PPPoE connection

I can connect to the internet with PPPoE using my OpenWrt router. I use a tagged vlan. I decided to upgrade my router to a model with a 2.5G WAN port so I purchased an Archer BE230, but it can't establish a PPPoE connection.
My setup is like this: SFP+ ONT (bridge mode, tagged vlan) -> multi-gigabit media converter (1G/2.5G/5G/10G) -> Router with PPPoE (tagged vlan).
I restarted my ONT/media converter multiple times, changed the detect online interval from 10 to 120, and changed MTU from 1480 to 1492 but no luck. I entered my custom VLAN. 802.1Q Tag is checked. I changed WAN port auto-negotiation to 1000 Mbps and 2500 Mbps. My media converter can negotiate at both speeds. I don't know what is the issue.
My system log is filled with text like this with different numbers:
ppp[7039]: <6> 261026 pppoe send PADT due to(resending PADI)
ppp[7039]: <6> 261021 pppoe send PADI Host-Uniq(1b7f)
Edit: Solved with a new 2.5G media converter.

Hi@icecubetr,
Thank you for your reply.
It seems that the converter may have problems with speed conversion above 1G.
However, the conversion speed of 940Mbps is actually a relatively ideal speed. The actual speed will also be affected by many factors, and a conversion rate of more than 90% is a relatively ideal state.
Of course, I am also looking forward to whether your new converter can allow the router to obtain higher speeds.
In addition, it is recommended that you can also change the Internet Port Negotiation Speed Setting to 'Auto Negotiation' on the router. Go to Advanced--Network--Internet.

I updated my firmware to Archer BE230(EU)_V1_1.1.3 Build 20241211. I will try again with this updated firmware and post an update.

It doesn't work with the new firmware either.

Hi @icecubetr,
Thank you for contacting our community.
You mentioned that both the ONT and the router have VLAN tags applied. It is recommended to cancel one of the VLAN tags (such as the ONT). Then, compare whether the router can operate normally at this time?
Please enable 802.1Q when using the ISP's VLAN ID; the specific steps can be referred to:How to configure VLAN ID for your internet connection on wireless router
If it does not work, please clone the old router's Mac address to the Archer BE230. How do I configure MAC Address Clone on my TP-Link Archer Router?
If it still does not work, it is recommended that you hard reset the Archer BE230 and configure it again with the same network configuration as the old router's.
Best Regard~

@Joseph-TP Hi Joseph,
Even though I set the detect online interval from 10 to 35 seconds for PPPoE, the interval between PPPoE logs is 10 seconds. I think this might be a bug, and the reason why the connection attempts fail. However, I am not sure.
Other than that, I already cloned my ISP-provided router's MAC address. I tried to edit the post but it didn't let me yesterday. Today I tried untagged VLAN in my ONT -> tagged VLAN in my OpenWrt router and it worked. However, it didn't work with the Tp-Link router.

I finally managed to connect to the internet but I had to set the Internet Port Negotiation Speed Setting manually to 1000 Mbps. It looks like the router can't negotiate with the media converter at 2.5G.

Hi @icecubetr,
Sorry for the late reply.
May I know who is your internet service provider? What is the model of your ONT? And what is your internet plan?
When you try the 2.5Gbps WAN port, what is the error message on the web interface of Archer BE230?
