I am also currently on 0.6.0 1.10 v0021.0 Build 141215 Rel.41342n
and I tried downloading the newest firmware from http://uk.tp-link.com/download/TD-W9980_V1.html#Firmware and failed flashing. I keep getting this error 4503. Is there no way to upgrade this router's firmare?

Have you tried different web browsers or different computers?
Before upgrade, did you extract the firwmare file and connect PC and W9980 by cable?

I was trying to flash the zip file itself, instead of unzipping it, and flashing the bin file inside. After realizing it, the flashing worked well.
I might suggest adding this little piece of information to the supports site - at least mentioning the fact that the file to flash is has a bin extension.
