Hi everyone,
I've been using this modem/router as an ADSL modem, but now have been struggling to connect to the cabled internet connection + STB box. Both are provided by my ISP.
I read one of the articles in FAQ, but one thing is not clear to me. Does this modem allow to connect to IPTV through ADSL connection?
I see the suugestion to bridge connection to IPTV via LAN 4 (or WAN) port and then bind it in a group with Internet connection, which is set up as an ADSL connection (through PPPoE).
Does that mean the modem/router is not able to work in the configuration Internet cable connection + IPTV box?
Please guide me to the article where it's described more in details.

Do you mean that you have to configure W8970 in wireless router mode to work with the cable modem? No telephone line?
Can you provide a topology?
By the way, did you figure out how to make IPTV work? What kinds of configuration you need?

No, not really true.
I have cable internet connection from my ISP as well as IPTV box from them. No ADSL anymore. So I'm connecting one cable to LAN4 (WAN) then I have the internet via WiFi (wireless route mode). Connecting to normal LAN port to my STB box doesn't work. I can't configure it in the modem, or I just overlooking the settings. Anyway, I was reading FAQ on this web-site..
Yesterday a had a successful connection through Wi-Fi router TL-WR841ND v.8.2, everything is working fine.
So, I wonder, how I need to configure W8970 to use it with my STB box?

Yes, I was trying to configure W8970 according to the guide in that FAQ. Problem is, or maybe I don't understand something, the settings of W8970 are only available in ADSL mode. Once switched to Wireless Router mode, disables Interface Grouping in Network menu.
Ofcourse, no internet in ADSL mode..This is where I'm stucked at the moment and have to use additional router WR841ND, which I borrowed. In fact, WR841ND can work on its own. It was easy to configure it.
So that's my question, is this possible to configure W8970 as WR841ND, using both STB IpTV box and Internet cable connection?

I also checked web interface of W8970 but hardware version V3.

There I can see a special settings in the menu for IPTV, where I can assign LAN port for my IPTV box, which is not found in V1 menu.
Could it be the case that TP-LINK will issue a new firmware for V1 modems?!

W8970 in wireless router mode is different from WR841 and IPTV cannot be configured properly.
To make IPTV work, you may buy your own WR841 or some other model...

I was expecting this..So, in fact version V3 does allow to configure IPTV like I described in the beginning, but version V1 not?!
They should provide a free upgrade to those who uses V1 version, then...
