Model: Archer VR600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hello,

Recently my great VR600 stopped broadcasting wifi (LAN still worked).

I usually don't use wifi, so it didn't really affected me, but I was curios to see if a simple factory reset / firmware upgrade will fix it.

Long story short, uploading the latest firmware bricked the device completely. Only the power LED is on (the rest are turned on only for a bried moment once after powering on).

I noticed that browsing to 192.168.1.1 shows a form to upgrade firmware, and indeed I tried both firmwares available in: https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/download/archer-vr600/v2/#Firmware, but the device still doesn't turn on, and the upload form is shown again.

I verified that my device is V2 EU version, so it doesn't seem like the issue.

Is there any alternative firmware that I shall try?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to our community.

If you have tried factory reset,  I am afraid there is no better solution.

This device may get defective and you may confirm warranty with local retailer or support team.

Thank you and best regards.

@Marvin_S Thanks for your response. The device is booting and serving an "upload firmware" form, and it worked fine until I attempted to upgrade (carefully following the guide).

Isn't there a way to tell what the problem is?
maybe i can flash the original firmware that shipped with the device?

Hi, after factory reset, if only power LED is on, that means the wireless module is broken.

Sorry that we have no better solutions.

Thanks for your understanding and best regards.

@Marvin_S oh yes thank you, the wireless module is probably indeed broken, but I it was mostly unused in my setup. I use the device as a modem, and all devices were connected via cable.
