GE800 x 2 issues
GE800 x 2 issues

Dear all,
I recently changed my home wifi system from Asus to TP-Link, purchased 2 new GE800, one as main router & the other as satellite via EasyMesh (10G wire-connected), overall the new system is working fine except with a few issues as follows:
1. The satellite GE800 LED color scheme does not follow the main router's, the satellite just with red wave-like color all the way.
2. MLO is basically working when connected to the main router but slow vs Wifi6, even when my mobile (Samsung S25 Ultra) was at the same place near the main router (about 2m apart) to test.
3. When my mobile is placed close to the satellite GE800 (6m from the main router), MLO connection does not switch to the satellite (ie still connect with the main router), whereas 2.4G / 5G wifi does switch to satellite.
Other than no switching to satellite under MLO, disconnect wifi then reconnect does not make a difference, seems MLO is not functioning at the satellite.
4. Tried to connect Oppo AX5400 (EasyMesh compatible) as another satellite, not successful after various attempts (WPS, wired). Seems not compatible?
5. Noted lately there's a new pre-release of firmware available, hope some / all of the aforesaid have been addressed. Anyway when will the official release be available?
Best Regards,
KLAM

Thanks for your reply.
I've updated my GE800 x 2 with the latest pre-release firmware, it's good but the attempt of adding OPPO AX5400 as another satellite via WPS (all along used this method) is still unsuccessful.
As I have 2 AX5400 routers & they can be set as main + satellite, they are working fine but within the same brand only.
Anyway, I'm not going to test GE800 + AX5400 via EasyMesh WPS again for the time being as originally thought it would be easy & not to waste the AX5400, but it seems not easy or incompatible.
Stick to my GE800 x 2 is good enough now.
Thanks anyway.

Updated GE800 firmware to the latest pre-release version, the new UI (web) looks very good, however the previously stated issues 1, 2 & 3 remained. Issue 4 yet to test again.

Hi@KLAM,
Thank you for contacting our community.
Here are answers for your questions:
- The settings of the main router are synchronized with the satellite router. Our technicians are working hard to develop these functions and hope to synchronize the settings through firmware updates in the future. We also welcome you to update to the pre-release firmware first.
- What configuration methods does the newly added Oppo AX5400 (compatible with EasyMesh) support? Since it is a non-TP-Link product, it is recommended that you give priority to the WPS method.
- We don’t know the release time of the official version because we are not technical personnel. It is recommended that you pay more attention to the updates of the official website. You can also give us feedback on your experience with new features at any time.
Best regards.

At present, the compatibility of easymesh products between different brands may be lower than the compatibility between easymesh products of the same brand.
If you feel that 2 Archer GE800s meet your usage needs, then you can indeed keep this setup.

Thank you.
To further explore the various ways of connection to my main router GE800, I'm trying to use its SFP+ port to connect the satellite GE800 SFP+ port and/or my QNAP 10G switch QSW-1208-8C (which has been used for a few years via the RJ45 ports but not yet tried the SFP+ ports), any special SFP+ DAC required / suggested? Would any SFP+ cable in market not "compatible" with GE800?

Hi@KLAM,
Thank you for your reply.
SFP+ ports are typically found on high-end networking equipment such as Archer AXE300 and WiFi 7 Routers Archer BE800 etc., which can be used for LAN or WAN connection in the four common application scenarios:
1. High-Speed WAN Connectivity: Leveraging SFP+ Ports for Direct Fiber Optic Connection and High-Speed Internet Access.
2. Ethernet Conversion: Utilizing SFP+ Electrical Port Modules for WAN Connectivity with Ethernet Modems.
3. High-Speed LAN Communication: Enhancing Local Area Networks with SFP+ Optical and Electrical Port Modules for Fast LAN Communication.
4. Ethernet Backhaul EasyMesh Network: Creating a High-Speed Ethernet Backhaul Network by Connecting Multiple EasyMesh Routers through SFP+ Ports.
For more detailed information, please refer to this thread: Common Application Scenarios of SFP+ Interface.
There is no clear incompatibility list at the moment, we will continue to pay attention to feedback and will compile a relevant compatibility list if necessary.
Best Regards~

I tried to use the SFP+ port of GE800 with 10gTek transceiver & optical cable, it worked but the transceiver became very hot - when it's unplugged from GE800 it so hot that it could not be held by hand until later when it became cooled. Is the high temperature normal?

Hi@KLAM,
Do you have a switch to test the transceiver? Does the transceiver also have heating issues?
Or if you have other transceivers, you can also test them.

Yes I tested the satilette GE800 SFP+ port with transceiver & optical cable connecting to SFP+ port of QNAP QSW-1208-8C, it worked, just the transceiver plugged into GE800 was so hot that it couldn't be touched when unplugged, the transceiver plugged into the switch was not hot, just a bit warm, very much cooler.
That's why had query on GE800 SFP+ port temperature issue.
