Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: latest

Hi everyone, I'm facing a frustrating issue with my home network setup and could use some advice. I have two TP-Link Archer C6 routers: one on the second floor and another on the third floor. My internet plan provides 100 Mbps, and when I connect my PC on the third floor directly to the second-floor router via an Ethernet cable, I get the full 100 Mbps speed. However, when I introduce the third-floor router which runs on AP MODE into the setup (connecting the second-floor router to the third-floor router via Ethernet, then the PC to the third-floor router), my speed drops to just 3 Mbps.

Hi@Kaushik124,

It is not recommended that you use it as a switch. If you want to use the second router to expand the network, you can set it as an Access Point.

How to configure the TP-Link wireless router as Access Point

If you have correctly set up the access point and have tried different cables, swap the roles of the two routers and compare.

Check if the problem is with a specific router or a router in a specific location.

Hi@Kaushik124,

Thank you for contacting our community.

For the Archer C6 in Access point mode, please confirm that you have set it to be an Access Point correctly:
How to configure the TP-Link wireless router as Access Point

Then please refer to the following suggestions for the slow speed issue:
1. Make sure the speed is normal when the PC is connected to the same Ethernet port of the front router.
2. Try a different Ethernet cable or port on the router.
3. Change the wireless channel and channel width.
