Model: Archer AX55 Pro
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.31941(4555)

Hi,

The problem manifests as follows:

  • If the device, typically the notebook, is connected to the router via 2,4GHz network, the connection regularly drops for a couple of seconds, this happens perhaps every 10-15min, I did not measure it exactly.
  • If the same device, without any physical movement or other change is switched to 5Ghz network, the connection is stable.

In the most of the time it is not a big deal, but e.g. during the Teams meetings or similar real time uses it is pretty annoying I can tell you.

The router usage and cirumstances is quite common and not extra demanding - the household, the distance doesn't play the role in this, nor the walls, the problem occurs even when sitting 3 meters from the router. And for sure, the signal for 2.4GHz is typically stronger on bigger distance, as expected.

Not more than 15 household devices on 2.4GHz and not more than 10 neighbourhood networks in 2,4 band (effectively just 5-6 because typically those are the pairs of 2 networks on the same channel).

The FW stated above should be the latest one (claimed by the router), Smart Connect switched off, TWT too, only OFDMA is active.

Other things.. the router is set to self-restart regulary every week, but the problem persists (not measured how fast after restart) but anyhow, the restart is not an option.

So what the next - I checked this forum, the internet... all in all, tried quite hard. No idea :-(

Any good hint on what to check / try / do?

Also the point is that 5GHz is not always a solution because of the distance, an older device of visiting family or similar.

And frankly, AX55 Pro is not exactly cheap gadget, declared well, as "Pro". So TPLink should be quite keen to avoid to have problems with such a basic feature as connectivity.

But apprently it is not the case.

Thanks.

Rastic

Hi@Rastic,

Thank you for contacting our community.

Did you try the 2.4Ghz guest network? Is it stable?

Here are some suggestions may help you:
    1) Make sure the Router is properly placed, it should be put in open area instead of inside a cabinet or shelf.
    2) Change the wireless channel into another one. You may refer to
Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo).
    3) For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust 2.4GHz channel width into 20MHz.
