Model: Archer AXE95
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello group,

I recently installed an AXE95. The ssid is showing up and a hidden network follows my ssid to what ever channel I switch to on both the 2 & 5 GHz bands. What is that all about? The MAC addresses are one digit/charactor different than each other. Is someone spying on my router os perhaps a back door?

Thanks

Rob

Hi@RobLB,

Thank you for contacting our community.

The hidden wireless network is used to build up the mesh wireless network system, and it cannot be detected by the common wireless devices. Just like the existing Deco mesh package products, the specific hidden network with high-intensity random password can guarantee the security of the network. So no worries.

Best Regards~

You probaly meant the AX90 model.

The mandatory requirement to use two routers in mesh is one of them to support Easymesh.

If both routers support Onemesh they can't build a mesh network - Onemesh FAQ - Q10.

Thanks again.

By the way, if you won't use the mesh feature you can switch it off and these hidden SSIDs should disappear:

  @terziyski

Thanks! They indeed went away. Here is another query. Can I use my old AXE90 on the mesh?

Thanks for your expertise and answering my questions.
