Hi,

According to integrated help:

"Failover(Enable backup link when all primary WANs fails)

Link Backup will be enabled only when all primary WANs fail. All the traffic on the primary WAN will switch to the backup WAN. The traffic on the backup WAN will switch to the primary WAN when all the primary WANs works properly."

Somehow, my router never come back to primary wan, if for any reason it fails to secondary wan.

It remains on secondary, until secondary wan fails, and does not switch back to primary wan when it is up.

In another topic the suggestion is to use the controller (Omada) mode, but because adopting means losing all settings, I'm not in the position to insert manually 67 NAT virtual servers rules (big pain).

This is the topic mentioned above:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/657220

Any idea what could be made to make the router respect the presumed link backup rules in standalone mode?

Below, some screenshots with my config.

Thank you,

  @CostinR1

Use the controller mode instead.
In that mode, you have an option which is Always Link Primary. That's what you need for this situation.

Hi,

Thank you for the answer, unfortunately, as I said in my post, "

"...because adopting means losing all settings, I'm not in the position to insert manually 67 NAT virtual servers rules (big pain)."

But at least please, do correct the misleading integrated help, I mean the emphasized portion below:

"Failover(Enable backup link when all primary WANs fails)

Link Backup will be enabled only when all primary WANs fail. All the traffic on the primary WAN will switch to the backup WAN. The traffic on the backup WAN will switch to the primary WAN when all the primary WANs works properly."

  @CostinR1

You can disable the WAN Settings Overrides if you go the Controller route. That means that the configuration in standalone mode will transfer when adopted.

I can confirm that when the primary WAN fails the secondary WAN kicks in and when the primary comes back online it switches back to primary (in controller mode).

Be careful and be sure that it is not enabled before adopting the gateway !!

Omada Controller : v5.15.24.17 Gateways : ER8411 V1.0, ER7206 v1.0 and ER605 V2.0 Switches : SG3428X v1.30 & TL-SG2008P v1.0 APs : EAP773 v1.0, EAP620HD v1.0 and EAP610 v3.0

Thanks,

The feature to Always Link Primary will be added in the future firmware to fill up the gap where it is missing for the description.

As for the moment, the option is to use the controller mode if you wish to always link the primary link.

  @n0sh1t

this only carries over WAN settings, he doesnt want to have to reenter 67 NAT entries, which will not get pulled accross.
