Model: Deco X50 - PoE
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.9 Build 20250110 Rel. 65349

Hello ,

I have recently activated wifi access control list to allow only whitelisted devices

When a new mac address is trying to connect, I received a notification which looks the normal way.

However when I decided to accept or reject it , something is happening on network  : the WIFI connection is temporarily broken for devices currently connected on WIFI

The symptom is the devices are disconnected , then it will reconnect.
I suspect that there is a kind of unexpected "reload".
For most of the devices this is not a big issue , but some devices need to keep connection active (online games , ssh connection) and this is very frustrating

I have made a test with different devices (2 android TV box & one laptop) and the issue is appearing systematically .

Please note that

- I have activated the 3  networks (Standard , Guest & iot) and issue is appearing when I received a request on the guest network.
I am not sure at 100% as the notifcation is not giving information about which of the 3 network the device is trying to connect ... which could be usefull :)

- issues appear when I am trying to rename a device :=(

-my 2 X50 POE are connected to rJ45

-my network is access point mode

Is somebody have similar issue and do you know if there is a workaround to avoid breaking connection ?

  @Movitch

Thank you very much for the further update.

I didn't have Deco X50-PoE available for testing now, so I'd like to forward your case to the senior engineer for further assistance.

Please check whether you have received my email.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.

  @Movitch

Hi, welcome to the community.

Did you use the same SSID for Main, Guest, and IoT Network?

-If not, I think you can tell whether the new device is trying to connect to which network, as you might need to input the password at first, right?

Theoretically, the notification will only be triggered when a new device is trying to connect. Renaming the device on the Deco APP should not trigger this notification.

"- issues appear when I am trying to rename a device :=("

-Is it an independent issue(not related to WiFi Access Control) that renaming the device also causes the temporary WiFi disconnection of connected devices, similar to the symptom of WiFi Access Control?

Would there be any Ethernet-connected clients? Did they have a similar issue when WiFi Access Control is triggered?

Can I also have some screenshots of the Deco network map, such as:

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

Thanks   @David-TP  for quick answers, please find more information .

The three network Main, Guest, and IoT have three differents SSID

But I am not able to find on which SSID a device is trying to connect, as it is not displayed on the notification.
In case I will accept AND if the device will still connected THEN I will know on which SSID it is connected,
but if I reject the device I am not able to know on which SSID the connection has been  requested

When I said "- issues appear when I am trying to rename a device :=(" , I would says that

when accept , reject , rename device, it will temporary causes the temporary WiFi disconnection of connected devices

I am not sure that issue is linked to WIFI access control , probably that renaming a device without WIFI access control will temporary causes the temporary WiFi disconnection of connected devices ( but I did not checked this)

However when WIFI access control is activated the probability of this issue is more frequent for me :

What happenned in my home is I have splitted network main and Guest to introduce a kind of "parental control".
I have recreated 3 SSID recently to make sure I will link correctly devices on correct SSID (main, guest, iot)
My childrens are connected to "Guest" so I can manually switch off the network during night.

There are one device which is using random MAC adress which is trying to connect about 5 times a day , then I received notifications for each request

If I accept the request , the device will not connect because first attemp failed and I suspect that device will try later with a new random access and so on

My intuition is this is my children which are trying to connect but as explained it is not possible to make 100% sure as I do not know the SSID.
As next step I will remove WIFI access control on Guest network as option is existing , so It will help me to invesigate and find this "ghost" device

For sure it will be tricky to investigate as there is no log to check first and last access for a specific device ...

But because there 5 randoms devices which is trying to connect everyday , I am rejecting manually 5 times a day which is causing WIFI disconnection each time ....

This is why Wifi access control is indirectly linked to the issue as it will increase the frequency of the disconnection
But to be honest , now I know that theses 'action' will causing WIFI disconnection , so I am not using it when my wife is looking TV or my children playing game :=)

I do not know if is a a "normal" function or a bug but it looks like very boring

I have never tested if a ethernet device is impacted as all my ethernet device are connected directly to the switch or Fibre modem/router

I could make a test if it helps ....

I have just sent log to the support team as requested.

This is still an issue with V2_1.5.0 Build 20250619
